European Olympic Committee Executive Body meets in Baku

The first meeting of the European Olympic Committee’s Executive Committee was held in Baku Friday, with an 18-people delegation led by the president of the EOC Jacques Rogue, vice-president Patrick Hitzke and secretary general Mario Pescante in attendance.
The Baku meeting of the EOC, which conducts 4 meetings a year, focused on preparations for the 2004 Athens Olympics and European youth Olympic days in Murcia, Spain, in July 2001. Participants also considered issues relating to setting up athlete commissions within EOC and preparation of the IOC program of Olympic solidarity in Europe.
The EOC delegation was received by the parliament speaker Murtuz Alasgarov Friday, while on Saturday it will attend celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Sport Academy.*
