Shummerian cuneiform – ancient Azeri Turkic language
Azeri-born pharmaceuticals specialist Tariel Azerturk claims that Turks are authors of cuneiform on ancient clay plates. Following an extensive research, he has written a 500-page book, “Ancestor”, proving wrong the labeling of plates as Shummerian. He has translated ancient texts into modern Azeri, as well as Russian and English, thus illustrating that cuneiform on clay plates in museums and private collections is executed in an ancient Azeri Turkic language.
In his news conference Friday, Azerturk, who has lived in Seattle for 10 years, said he had been studying Turkic history, culture and language since his young years and carried out valuable researches of Azeri Turks.
T. Azerturk is president of the Seattle-based “Ancestor” society, founder and chief editor of “Turkic World” and “Babylon Azerbaijan” magazines, and “Integral Azerbaijan” newspaper. He also teaches at Washington University.*
