An exhibition “Dolls in Indian costume” is due at the “Gala” Art Gallery April 12-14, according to the second secretary of the Indian embassy Mr. Asri.
Organizers of the show are Indian embassy in Baku, Mayor’s office of Baku and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Mr. Asri said 52 dolls dressed in costume of all Indian states would be exhibited. Prior to Azerbaijan, the exhibition had been displayed in a number of European countries. After Baku, it will leave for Moscow.
Besides dresses, the dolls will wear decorations. Dolls by an Azeri artist Elmira Abbasli will also be displayed.
This will be the second event to be organized by the ICCR in Azerbaijan. Last November, the Council arranged the performance of a renowned Indian dancer Aloka Kanungo in Baku.
The Indian diplomat said the embassy was interested in organizing Azeri culture activities in India, while ICCR is ready to contribute to the initiative.*
