Voice of America, Radio Liberty to air 24/7

Azerbaijan’s body regulating local media, the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council, on Friday gave a go-ahead to the broadcasts of Voice of America and Radio Liberty programs, a move that followed an earlier measure to take these stations off the air since January 1 due to the lack of the required license.

The radio stations are allowed to broadcast 24/7 on 101.7 FM frequency after all the technical arrangements and documentation are worked out, the Council said after a meeting. The Voice of America and Radio Liberty broadcasts on medium waves, which continued after the halt in FM broadcasts, will stop now. The value of the license will be agreed later.*
