Prison executive commits suicide

An executive of a penitentiary in Baku Vagif Shukurov has committed a suicide with a sharp tool. He was rushed to first aid hospital after Musa Naghiyev and is now being treated in the emergency room.

Shukurov is suspected in committing several crimes. He is charged with releasing prisoners ahead of their imprisonment term with forged documents.

Representative of the Justice Ministry senior department on execution of court rulings Niyazi Mammadov confirmed this, saying that that prosecution bodies have started a relevant criminal case.

After ascertaining violations of law at the penitentiary, the department carried out inspections in other jails. No violations of law were registered during the check-up.*
