Azeri vessel runs aground

The “Batakh” towing vessel owned by the Caspian Shipping Company ran into an old sub-sea structure in the “Shah kasasi” area close to the Bahar field on Wednesday. As a result of incident, the frame of the vessel was damaged and it ran aground in shallow waters. No casualties are reported, a source from the company told AssA-Irada.

All the 12 passengers onboard the vessel were evacuated with the aid of another ship which floated close to the accident site.

The drilling equipment on board the vessel, owned by AbsheronNeft, was not damaged. Work is currently under way to pull the vessel out of the shoal.
