Cargo train derailed in Ganja

A railway accident occurred in Ganja, 350 kilometers away from Baku, on Friday.

27 carriages carrying bauxite (mineral) and a locomotive owned by the Clay Production Association turned over as a result of the brake system failure.

No casualties were reported.

As a result of the accident, 1,800 tons of bauxite spilled on the ground, while the locomotive and carriages went out of order.

According to the investigation carried out by the State Railway Office, the accident has been caused by negligence of the locomotive driver who hadn’t made the train examined before the traveling.*
