Visas and Passports
Travel to Azerbaijan requires an entry visa, unless there is an agreement on visa free travel with the country of citizenship.
With effect from 15 October 2010 foreign nationals travelling to Azerbaijan are no longer able to obtain entry visas upon arrival. It doesn't affect Turkish & Russian nationals because their countries have agreements on visa free travel.
Azerbaijan consulates and embassies can issues single, double and multiple types of (tourist, business, transit) visas to Azerbaijan.

The following documents should be submitted to consulates and embassies to obtain a visa to Azerbaijan:
- Completed standard visa application, signed by the applicant. All blank spaces in the form (you can download it here) must be typed or printed in English or Azerbaijani languages. You can fill out the application form online. Incomplete visa application forms will be returned without processing;
- An invitation letter from Azerbaijan (it should be submitted directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan);
- Valid passport or other travel document (original ones) which should have at least one clear page for the visa. A passport must be valid for no less than one month after the date of your planned departure from Azerbaijan. Holders of travel documents must submit valid permanent resident card;
- Two passport sized photos of the applicant. Photos must be in color, full face, stapled to the marked corner of the application;
The fees for the US citizens as of January 1, 2008 are as folows :
- Single entry (up to 90 days) - $131 USD
- Double entry (up to 90 days) - $131 USD
- Multiple entry (up to 1 year) - $250 USD
The fees for the United Kingdom (UK) citizens are as folows :
- Single entry (up to 90 days) - 55 UK pounds
- Double entry (up to 90 days) - 55 UK pounds
- Multiple entry (up to 1 year) - 200 UK pounds
The fees for the EU citizens are as folows :
- Single entry (up to 90 days) - 60 EUR
- Double entry (up to 90 days) - 60 EUR
- Multiple entry (up to 1 year) - 200 EUR
If your visa expired you must leave Azerbaijan within 48 hours. You can extend the visa prior its expiration at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
